Richmond, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - It's the second highest jackpot ever for Mega Millions and the fourth highest jackpot for any lottery game overall.
Virginia Lottery spokesman John Hagerty says that tonight's Mega Millions lottery jackpot is at 1.35 billion dollars. The drawing is tonight at 11. Hagerty says that the Virginia Lottery has seen a lot of huge jackpots recently, with Powerball topping 2 billion dollars just this past November.
Hagerty says whenever that one billion dollar jackpot is met and surpassed, it usually translates to very brisk sales. He says that Virginia expects to see about 7.4 million dollars in sales in Virginia with Mega Millions tickets alone. During peak sales times, Hagerty says that Virginia could be selling 7300 tickets a minute.
