Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A global Microsoft outage on Friday morning impacted several agencies and businesses in Central Virginia.
Multiple flights in and out of Richmond were canceled or delayed, some users at VCU and VCU Health have been unable to sign into their computers, online transactions are down at the DMV and Dominion Energy’s phone systems also went down. Area police departments have not reported any major impacts to their systems.
In a statement, Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s office said government administrative functions experienced disruptions.
“Virginians may experience delays and we ask everyone to remain patient as we work to remedy and reestablish the high standards that Virginians deserve,” Youngkin said.
Microsoft 365 posted on social media that the company is “working on rerouting the impacted traffic to alternate systems to alleviate impact” and that they were “observing a positive trend in service availability.”
