Richmond, Va. - As polls close tonight and the results start coming in, when you go to the Department of Elections website for results, it's hoped that they are presented will be in a more transparent way.
State Department of Elections Commissioner Susan Beals says that when you go to the Results Page and click Results By Locality, the results will be in five different categories. Those categories are Early Voting, Election Day Voting, Mailed-In Absentee, Provisional Ballots and Post-Election Ballot.
That way if the races go well into the night, you can see what the progress is on those categories and give you a clearer picture of what still needs to be calculated. Beals has a reminder that the post-election ballot has a deadline of November 14th at noon to be received by the registrars. They can only be counted if they have a postmark of November 8th or earlier.
