Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- The City of Richmond says they were handed over 474 guns on Saturday, during the city's first gun buyback event. Over 160 people participated, according to the city's statistics.

Participants were given gift cards based on the type of gun they turned in. Inoperable guns were worth $25, and an assault rifle brought its owner a $250 gift card. The event only went for four hours Saturday because of the demand.

We do not know how much in gift cards was given out. Richmond had set aside $80,000 for the event.
