Fredericksburg, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Around 5pm Tuesday, VDOT tweeted it out that there were no longer any drivers stranded on I95, more than 24 hours after the back up began. VDOT was then using tow trucks to remove abandoned cars, and plows to clear the snow and ice from the road.

Governor Ralph Northam defended the response, which left hundreds of cars stuck on the interstate, and the main north-south highway on the east coast closed. Northam says more snow fell that what was predicted. He also says there were no requests for aid, and that calling up the National Guard isn't an immediate process. Northam points out it took a day for Guard members to get to DC for the January 6th response. Incoming House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R-Shenandoah) says the guard should have been called.

Additional freezing precipitation is possible tomorrow. Henrico and Hanover schools will be closed. Chesterfield has announced a two hour delay.
