Hanover County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Authorities have determined that there is no credible threat targeting Hanover County schools, despite earlier concerns that multiple schools in the district were included on a TikTok “hit list” that went viral.

The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office announced in the morning on Thursday, Sept. 12 that the list was mistakenly associated with schools in Hanover County, but it actually referred to schools in Georgia.

In a statement posted to Facebook, the Sheriff’s Office described the “hit list” as part of a “sick viral trend.” There is no danger to local students or the public, officials said.

“We want to reassure you that there is no credible threat to any schools in Hanover, including those with similar names,” Hanover County Public School officials said. “Your children are safe to attend school today, and all schools will remain open as scheduled.”
