Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A surprise endorsement in Democratic circles in Richmond. Governor Ralph Northam has agreed to endorse Delegate Jay Jones for Attorney General, instead of the incumbent running for a third term, Attorney General Mark Herring. Herring stepped aside to let Northam have a clearer path for the Executive Mansion in 2017.
In Jones' press release, Northam says now is the time for a new generation of leaders. Northam does have ties to Jones' family in Hampton Roads.
Herring is running for a third term.
