Tysons Corner, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Governor Ralph Northam, while visiting a vaccination site in Northern Virginia, says he may have more to say in regards to Covid restrictions in the coming days and weeks. Northam had said previously that restrictions would be looked at on a monthly basis. He did announce a few small guideline changes regarding some high school sports and extracurricular activities.
The Governor did stress that now all Virginians 16 and older are eligible to get a vaccine. He's encouraging all to do so. He says demand continues to outstrip supply, so it may take some time, but he believes all Virginians wanting to get vaccinated should be able to get at least one shot by the end of May.
As for when we reach herd immunity, Northam says children will have to get vaccinated for that to happen, and their eligibility hasn't opened up yet. He believes herd immunity is possible some time next year.
