
Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - In an announcement on his Youtube Channel, Governor Ralph Northam announced that in accordance with CDC Guidance, he was lifting Virginia's mask mandate for fully vaccinated people in most instances. Masks will still be required in healthcare, in public transit, and in congregate settings. Schools will also still require masks as most kids have not been vaccinated.

Northam also announced that capacity and social distancing requirements will be lifted on May 28th. Originally, that was not expected until June 15th.
Northam also continues to encourage vaccinations. Earlier in the day, State Senate Republicans called on Northam to lift the mask mandate, saying it was time to let fully vaccinated Virginians to "breathe freely again."
