Chesterfield County, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A Chesterfield Police officer was injured after he was shot in the leg while responding to a domestic assault call Friday morning.
The incident took place just after 6 a.m. on Friday, June 27, in the 5200 block of Whetstone Road in North Chesterfield, at the Meadowbrook Apartments.
The officer was shot in the leg and is expected to survive. One person has been taken into custody, and police say charges are pending.
“The officer was transported to an area hospital, where he is in stable condition and being treated for non-life-threatening injuries,” Chesterfield Police said in a news release. “Following a brief barricade situation, the suspect was taken into custody by police at about 7 a.m. No one else was physically injured in the incident.”
Officials continue to investigate.
