Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - AAA Mid-Atlantic says just over one million Virginians are expected to travel this Memorial Day holiday. The number is 88% of 2019's travel numbers, which was a record year. Travel was at record lows in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic.
A large majority of those travelling are expected to go by car, according to AAA. AAA Spokesman Morgan Dean also says given pent up demand, it is quite possible summer overall may set records, as people take trips they put off.
Dean heavily recommends people know the rules for where they are travelling to avoid issues one they arrive. He also recommends checking to make sure places you want to visit are back open from Covid as well.
