Richmond, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - When Kings Dominion opens for the season coming up on March 12, there will be a major new feature there. While there may be new rides, the feature that will most impact visitors is the fact that they will no longer accept paper or coin currency. It's just credit or debit cards. They will also accept Apple and Google Pay.

Kings Dominion says on their website that the move to do this was based on focusing on contactless transactions and making things faster and safer.

If you happen to leave your credit or debit cards at home and don't have Google or Apple Pay available on your phone, you can stop at one of the multiple kiosks around the park that will give you a prepaid card after you deposit your cash. There is also no fee to use the cash-to-card kiosks. The minimum amount you can put on a card is $5 and the maximum amount is $500.

If you leave the park with a balance and don't plan to come back, you can still use the card wherever Visa is accepted. The pre-paid cards are not reloadable.
