Petersburg, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Petersburg City Council has unanimously approved the Cordish Companies to operate a proposed casino in the city if voters in Petersburg endorse the casino referendum in November.
The City is getting a shot after General Assembly approval earlier this year, which came after voters in Richmond twice rejected a casino proposal.
Multiple attempts to allow citizens to weigh in on a proposed gaming location in Petersburg have failed, including a bill from Sen. Joe Morrissey (D-Richmond) in the 2023 legislative session that failed to advance by the Virginia Senate Panel along with Del. Kim Taylor’s (R-Dinwiddie) proposed measure that was rejected by the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee.
