Petersburg, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The City of Petersburg has issued a boil water advisory, which will remain in effect until further notice.

Officials released the notice following a “significant” water line break on Arlington Street Sunday afternoon. The advisory is directed at all Petersburg residents and businesses, along with those who were recently without water or experienced very low pressure due to the leak.

Petersburg Public Works crews and contractors will remain in the area, working to repair the 12-inch line. The cause of the break is unknown at this time.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, food and drink preparation along with making ice. Boiling is advised, as it kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

The water line break has also resulted in the Circuit Court and the City of Petersburg Clerk’s office being closed on Monday, July 8.
