Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - More than a month after a Powerball ticket worth $162 million was sold in Dublin, no winner has come forward to the Virginia Lottery. Winners have 180 days from any jackpot to claim it. The jackpot was held March 4th.
The winner does not need to come forward publicly. The General Assembly, in the past few years, made it possible for people to claim large jackpots anonymously.
If no one claims the jackpot with 180 days, the jackpot revenue is then returned to the participating states. Virginia's share would go to the literary fund, which funds school construction. Virginia would not get the full $162 million.
