Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - In honor of World Spay Day, Richmond Animal Care and Control will spay and neuter 50 cats for free on Feb. 26.

The procedures will be performed by Jones Veterinary Care, located at 1217 W. Leigh St., and will be paid by the Kara and Eden Project. Rabies vaccines will also be covered.

Cats eligible for the free procedure must be owned by a Richmond resident. Feral cats will not be accepted.

Anyone who wants to participate in this program must schedule an appointment by email at Jonesvetcare@gmail.com. Shelter officials ask that people "please be gracious and understanding that these spots will fill quickly."
