Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - This Giving Tuesday, the American Red Cross is reminding the community of the critical need for blood donations.
While the need for blood is constant, the Red Cross says the holiday season sees an increase in the need for donations.
"The holidays are always a very challenging time for the Red Cross," says Jonathan McNamara, Red Cross spokesperson. "Many people are traveling, it gets colder. Unfortunately, we see a dip in appointments to the Red Cross at a time when we see an increase in demand from our area hospital partners."
A donation of any size can help in times of crisis, McNamara says. Donations help ensure that doctors and hospitals have the resources they need to treat patients.
