Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Local registrars are reminding voters planning to vote absentee by mail this year that they will need to have a witness signature on the envelope. A signature was not needed last year because of the Covid State of Emergency, but that emergency declaration has ended.

Henrico Registrar Mark Coakley says they have received back over 4,000 mail in ballots and 171 were lacking a witness signature. He says those voters are being given the chance to come in and get a signature on there, or receive a new ballot.

Election Day is November 2nd. Coakley says they are hearing many people voted by mail for the first time last year, and just repeated the same process they used last year as well.
