Richmond, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Two to three inches of rain could be coming Friday throughout the majority of the day as the remnants of what has become a tropical storm named Nicole hit the area.

The storm, which is expected to become a Category 1 hurricane, is expected to make landfall near West Palm Beach, Florida late Wednesday or early Thursday. The remnants will be coming here by Friday. NBC 12's Nick Russo says the storm is tracking west of the area, which means it could spawn some tornadoes.

It's expected the rain will be gone by the time the Richmond Marathon starts on Saturday morning . The concern is getting too much rain at one time, even though we are currently in a rain deficit. Because we're getting a lot of rain this time of year with a lot of leaves on the ground and on the roofs of houses, Russo suggests leaves are out of your gutters.
