Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Bishop Barry Knestout of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond has released a statement on the passing Monday of Pope Francis in Rome.
"As I reflect on his pontificate, I marvel at the way each Holy Father makes a unique imprint on the papacy and the Catholic Church," Knestout said. "Pope Francis’ charisms were his simple, conversational style, and his charitable efforts in reaching out to those on the peripheries – the poor, vulnerable, and alienated."
Knestout was appointed by Francis as the 13th bishop of Richmond in December 2017. Knestout met Francis three times, most recently in October during a pilgrimage to Rome.
