Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond City Council on Monday made a move to help solve the meals tax mess, passing an ordinance to change city code and fix how tax payments are applied.
The move was well received, but businesses still want to see more done and Council agrees. There are plans to hold a forum for the public to help them find the proper and necessary solutions.
“The reality is that we did not invest in maintenance of our financial systems, folks, period. And so, as we try to be more transparent, as we are trying to really rectify the situation, that’s why we’re here to make sure that this gets passed tonight along with other ordinances to really make change to our system,” Councilwoman Ann-Frances Lambert said.
