Richmond Police Officer Charged with Involuntary Manslaughter

Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A Richmond Police Officer faces two counts of involuntary manslaughter, as well as other charges, related to a fatal crash in April that killed two people. Richmond Police say Officer Richard Johnson is on unpaid leave. At the time of the crash, RPD said Johnson and another officer were responding to a burglary call.

Killed in the crash were Jeremiah Ruffin and Tracey Williams. The crash happened in South Richmond near Bells and Castlewood Roads.

The accident also came just a week after a Henrico Police Officer was killed in an on-duty crash.
