Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - This weekend, the Richmond SPCA is letting adopters name their own adoption fee. The offer is part of a nationwide "Clear the Shelters" adoption and donation campaign, intended to help pets find loving homes and free up shelter space for more dogs and cats.

Anyone adopting a dog or cat six months of age or older can set their own adoption fee Friday, Aug. 25, through Sunday, Aug. 27.

"We are really hoping to find homes for some of the adult dogs and cats who are in our care," says Tabitha Treloar, Richmond SPCA. "That's going to make space for us to help some of the municipal shelters that we work with."

The Richmond SPCA is open Friday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
