Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - From now until Sunday, Aug. 4, the Richmond SPCA is waiving adoption fees on senior pets as part of a partnership with Hardywood Brewery.

During the shelter’s “Frosty Mugs” event, qualified adopters can take home a pet aged 8 or older without paying an adoption fee. Shelter officials said adopters will also receive coupons to visit Hardywood’s tasting room, hence the event’s name, “Frosty Mugs.”

“Although seniors are sometimes overlooked in favor of younger pets, there are many advantages to adopting a mature pet who already has training and enjoys life at a slower pace,” the Richmond SPCA said in a press release.
