Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - State Police say two Richmond women were killed after they drove away from multiple attempts to stop them in Northern Virginia, and then drove the wrong way on the I-95 Express Lanes. The accident Thursday afternoon also killed a pickup truck driver, whom the women struck head on.

Police say Stephanie Morton, 46, of Richmond, was first seen by Troopers going 80 in a 65 zone. The officer followed but then stopped the pursuit because of traffic. A second offier then picked it up later, and it was during the second pursuit that officers say Morton drove through the down Express Lane gates and into oncoming traffic. Her car then struck a pickup head on, killing that driver. Two other cars were also struck although the people involved there only suffered minor injuries.

Morton and passenger Tia Porter, 26, of Richmond, died at the scene. Police do not why she did not stop, and say because both women died and the car caught fire, they are unlikely to find additional evidence.
