Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The City of Richmond is starting its annual Leaf Collection Program on Monday, Oct. 7. Residents have several options to choose from.
Unlimited bag collection, where bagged leaves will be collected based on trash collection days. Biodegradable bags are preferred, and collection days are based on the four sectors of the city:
• Sector 1: Wednesday trash collection. Bagged leaves will be picked up between Nov. 6 and Nov. 20
• Sector 2: Thursday trash collection. Bagged leaves will be picked up between Nov. 21 and Dec. 1
• Sector 3: Monday trash collection. Bagged leaves will be picked up between Dec. 3 and Dec. 18
• Sector 4: Tuesday trash collection. Bagged leaves will be picked up between Dec. 19 and Dec. 31.
There’s also a do-it-yourself option, where residents can drop off loose leaves or put them in biodegradable bags at the following locations:
• East Richmond Road Convenience Center at 3800 East Richmond Road
• Maury Street Leaf Drop-off at 2900 Maury Street
• Transfer station at 3506 North Hopkins Road
Lastly, there is a vacuum service option available on request, which is not free. The service is available beginning on Monday, Nov. 4 and the cost is $30 per request, with the payment due prior to service.
