Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Police Chief Gerald Smith says he is closing further discussion of the alleged mass shooting plot planned for the Fourth of July here in Richmond. Smith read a statement at the beginning of a press conference on crime stats, a statement which include information that the tipster that lead to the arrest never mentioned Dogwood Dell as the target.
Prosecutors have told a Richmond Circuit Court judge they did not have evidence to present that the target was, in fact, Dogwood Dell. The two Guatemalan men arrested also do not face any mass shooting related charges. Both charges have immigration components.
The case has now moved to the federal court system. Both men have an appearance scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
