Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Police have provided more information about a forceful arrest from Monday captured on video and posted to social media. The video shows an African-American woman being forcefully held on the ground by a Richmond Police officer who was called to the scene, according to the department, for a shoplifting call.

Police say the video is a partial video, and claim the woman, Alecia Nelson, 33, physically resisted arrest. Nelson told the Richmond Times-Dispatch she did nothing wrong and was humiliated. The man taking the video also can be heard saying the items were paid for. Nelson has been charged with assault on an officer and has a court date next month.

The officer has been identified as Graham Lang, who has 21 years on the force. Police say they are investigating Lang's use of force. They also say there is other video available.
