Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - School gets underway for most students today in the Richmond metro area. Both Hanover and Chesterfield Schools are doing staggered starts, so some kids will not go to class until Tuesday. This is Hanover's first pre-Labor Day start.
In Henrico, high school students will go through weapons detection systems. This follows a number of incidents last school year. Middle and elementary schools will get them later.
In Richmond, this is the first school day since the Huguenot High School graduation shooting in June. The final few days of last school year were cancelled. The alleged shooter in that incident as a court date later this week.
