Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Democrats on the Senate Privileges and Elections Committee killed two House-passed bills Tuesday that would have repeal voting changes made during Covid. Delegate John McGuire (R-Henrico) wanted to do away with drop boxes, while Delegate Philip Scott (R-Fredericksburg) wanted to reduce the days you could early vote.

Senator Jennifer McClellan (D-Richmond) argued that people like to vote on their own schedule, and supporters of the drop boxes say they are convenient and secure. McGuire argued they aren't used enough to justify the cost.

The Senate has been killing House bills, and the House has been killing Senate bills, since crossover. The House is controlled by Republicans, and the Senate is controlled by Democrats.
