
Petersburg, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - State Police are investigating a man's death in Petersburg that occurred as he was to be served eviction papers by a Petersburg Sheriff's Deputy. Police say it is not clear how the man was shot, or who fired the gun that killed him.
State Police say the deputy asked Petersburg Police for backup, and when they entered the home, law enforcement says they encountered the man, armed with a shotgun. During the encounter, according to Police, the man was shot and killed with that shotgun. No law enforcement were injured.
State Police are investigating as an independent agency. The incident began around 11 Monday morning.
