Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia State Police are expressing concerns after three motorcyclists were killed around the Commonwealth over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Overall, fatalities were down on the roads compared to 2021, but the motorcycle deaths are concerning to State Police.
State Police Spokeswoman Corrine Geller says in two of the fatal motorcycle crashes, the bikers went off a curve. Police are asking all drivers, be they on bikes or in cars, to please watch their speed.
Geller says troopers had a busy weekend, as they wrote over 4,200 speeding tickets, and over 1,500 reckless driving tickets. Sixty-nine people were arrested for DUI.
