Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia State Police say they have taken over as lead agency in the investigation into the killing of three UVA football players. They three, Devin Chandler, D'Sean Perry, and Lavel Davis, Jr., were shot and killed on a bus on the UVA grounds. State Police say they are taking over at the request of UVA and UVA police.

State Police say they can provide additional resources and personnel to an investigation that is now spanning multiple jurisdictions. The fatal shootings happened on UVA grounds but suspect Christopher Jones was arrested in Henrico, and he reportedly bought weapons in Colonial Heights. He also reportedly has had interactions with law enforcement in other localities.

State Police have been assisting in the investigation from the beginning.
