Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - State Police say they are yet to charge a Chesterfield man tied to an alleged kidnapping and shootout with State Police because he remains in the hospital. Michael Davis suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident last Wednesday. The woman he allegedly kidnapped, Tatiana David, of Ithaca, N.Y., died in the incident.

State Police also revealed that they did not know about the alleged kidnapping during the initial traffic stop in Fairfax County. A State Police Spokesman says they only became aware after talking with Davis, after stopping him for having incorrect plates. It was at that point, according to State Police, that Davis drove off and the pursuit began.

The pursuit ended when the Jeep crashed in the woods in Prince William County. State Police say Davis fired at them and they returned fire after the crash.
