Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney says he personally would like to see the Washington Commanders training facility become green space, working in concert with the Science Museum of Virginia and the Children's Museum next door. The Washington Commanders no longer hold training camp in Richmond and do not have plans to come back in the future.
Stoney says there is a benefit to the site in that it is located next to Scott's Addition, which is a booming area of the city. He says development of the site will look at all options to find the best use possible.
Richmond is still paying off the loan taken out for construction of the site. The deal was struck under Mayor Dwight Jones. Stoney says he is loathe to criticize the deal but wonders if it was the best use of taxpayer funds.
