Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney has taken to Twitter to tell the Richmond School Board not to fire Superintendent Jason Kamras. The Board is holding a special meeting Tuesday following the release of district SOL scores.
Stoney says firing Kamras with school starting next Monday would be "catastrophic." He says the SOL scores are alarming, but mirror statewide and national trends. Stoney says no one should be surprised about the impact of the Covid pandemic on learning.
The Mayor and the School Board have been at odds before. Most recently, the two sides spent several months arguing over the best way to build a new George Wythe High School before finally coming to an agreement.
