Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A bakery in Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood will be closed for the “foreseeable future” after a fire burned through the building Sunday morning.
Sub Rosa Bakery on 25th Street announced the fire in a social media post, saying they are currently assessing the extent of the damage but that everyone is safe.
Officials with Richmond Fire arrived at the bakery in the 600 block of 20 N 25th Street at around 6:45 a.m. and saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof.
"We will be closed today and for the foreseeable future," Sub Rosa staff said. "We don’t know the extent of the damage and will keep you all informed as we find out more. Everyone is safe."
Sub Rosa was opened in 2012 by brother and sister bakers Evrim and Evin Dogu. So far, there has been no word on how the fire started.
