Richmond, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - It seems that supply chain issues are hitting many aspects of our everyday life and that includes Virginia ABC stores. One of the biggest drivers of revenue around the holidays had to be scrapped because of supply chain issues.

Virginia ABC CEO Travis Hill says that there will be no Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales this year. Instead, starting on Thursday, November 18, Virginia ABC stores will be showcasing "Spirited Thursdays", where certain beverages will be discounted on Thursdays through mid December. There will be no Spirited Thursdays on Thanksgiving, however.

Hill says as preparations for the holidays began many months ago, they found they couldn't get commitments from suppliers to have everything in the store. So, now the items will be spaced out over a number of weeks. Hill says some stores are experiencing bare shelves...especially with the items that have to be imported, such as tequila and cognac. But, by enlarge, Hill says most stores are adequately stocked.
