
Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Henrico Police have arrested an 18-year-old in connection to a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed one person.
Just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, police were called to the intersection of Airport Drive and Audubon Drive, near Richmond International Airport, for a reported two-vehicle crash.
“Once on scene, officers located a Toyota Yaris and a Cadillac CTS with significant damage,” Henrico Police said.
The driver of the Toyota, 29-year-old Fernando Cac Caal of Sandston, died at the scene. The female passenger is in critical condition.
“The preliminary investigation indicates the Cadillac CTS was involved in a pursuit which originated on I-64 west in New Kent County. The pursuit traveled into Henrico County where the crash occurred between the Cadillac and Toyota. The occupants inside the Cadillac ran from the scene following the collision,” Henrico Police said.
Hours after the crash, 18-year-old Tony Lamont Roberts of Hopewell was identified as a person of interest. Roberts has been arrested and faces the following charges:
• Felony hit-and-run
• Misdemeanor Eluding
• Obstruction of Justice
• Possession of a Firearm by a felon
• Possession of a Firearm while under a protective order
• Possession of an extended magazine
Police say New Kent will handle the pursuit investigation, and Henrico will investigate the crash.
