Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Tuesday evening, following votes on numerous bills, State Senate Democrats successfully blocked three of Governor Glenn Youngkin's appointees. The most prominent rejection was State Health Commissioner Dr. Colin Greene, who ran into controversy last year over comments about race and maternal health.
Democrats also rejected Suparna Dutta for the Board of Education, and Steven Buck for the Parole Board. Dutta has been involved in controversies surrounding admissions at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Northern Virginia.
Youngkin released a statement afterwards saying, "Democrats are repeating loudly their clear beliefs: parents don’t matter, criminals first victims last, and petty politics above Virginia’s best interests. It’s shameful. Virginians deserve so much better."
