Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- Senator Tim Kaine has said he is "demanding" an amendment to the proposed debt ceiling deal that would allow construction to move forward on the Mountain Valley Pipeline.
Kaine was adamant that permitting issues like this shouldn't fall to Congress at all. he gave several reasons for this, one of the biggest ones being in prevention of corruption. Kaine also said that construction as proposed would be devastation to Appalachia, where he says land would have to be taken from citizens to build the pipeline as planned.
Kaine evaded answering whether or not this provision, if left unchanged, would prevent him from voting yes on the debt ceiling deal, but he said he is "demanding" that his amendment be included.
