Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority is set to discuss possible toll increases for the Downtown Expressway, the Powhite Parkway, and the Boulevard Bridge next week. The Board of the RMTA meets May 9th.
Currently, drivers pay $0.70 at the main toll booths just to the west of the James River. The proposal is to increase that to $0.90 for EzPass holders, and $1.00 for those paying cash. Other RMTA tolls would increase as well.
The RMTA does not control the toll booths further to the west on the Powhite. Those tolls are run by VDOT.
The last toll increase by the RMTA was in 2008. If approved, it would likely take effect September 1st.
