Henrico, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A three-day trial is underway in Henrico Circuit Court for a Short Pump Middle School teacher accused of sexual assault. The charges, according to police, date back to the 2016-2017 school year, and according to the Commonwealth's Attorney and Police, involve a student.
Dean Lakey was initially charged with rape, forcible sodomy, and indecent liberties. The Richmond Times-Dispatch is now reporting he is being tried on just two charges: object sexual battery and one indecent liberties charge.
Lakey was arrested last year after a tip from Child Protective Services.
