
Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Two local law enforcement officers have been charged with sex offense this week. One is a Richmond Police Officer with five years on the force, the other is a new Chesterfield Sheriff's Deputy who had previously worked for the Department of Corrections.
Richmond Police say Officer Jean Assad has been arrested after a grand jury has charged him with Rape and Aggravated Sexual Battery. The Police Department provides no information on the offense but court records show the offense date as October 2nd. Assad joined the force in 2017 and is currently on leave without pay.
The Chesterfield Sheriff's Office says one of its probationary deputies was arrested for three counts of carnal knowledge of a prisoner by an officer. The department says Andrew Reilly previously worked for the Department of Corrections at the women's facility at Fluvanna Correctional Center before coming to Chesterfield, and the charges date to that time. The department says Reilly is no longer employed by them.
