Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - A new VCU Commonwealth Poll is showing some interesting results for 2024. The poll, done in mid-July, found that Virginia would favor Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) over President Joe Biden (D) 44% to 37%. However, Biden would be in a dead heat with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and Biden would beat former President Donald Trump (R) 43% to 40%

Youngkin would beat Biden, despite the poll also finding his approval rating just under 50% at 49%. The poll also looked at the upcoming General Assembly elections, with 47% favoring a GOP House majority, and 41% favoring a Democratic majority. The Senate was a dead heat.

The poll had a margin of error of approximately five-and-a-half percent. Some Democratic activists online are questioning the methodology.
