Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) -- It appears Virginia Commonwealth University students will be paying more for school next year. The school administration is proposing anywhere from a three percent to a six percent tuition increase. Mandatory fees will also rise.

For the average in-state student, that will put tuition in between $15,000 and $16,000. For out-of-state, the amount will be between $37,000 and $38,000. President Michael Rao says VCU is committed to increasing financial aid.

The school administration says tuition was frozen for three years, but it is not sustainable as their costs rise.
