
Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Virginia Department of Health says it is "closely monitoring" the Omicron variant, and is working with the state lab to identify it here. As of this moment, there are no Omicron cases in Virginia, but they suggest they may soon be detected.
State Health Commissioner Norman continues to ask people to get vaccinated, and if vaccinated, to get boosters if eligible. He says "we all want this pandemic to end." VDH is also recommending people continue to wear masks indoors, and to social distance.
Community transmission of Covid-19 remains high in the Commonwealth, according to VDH.
