Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia will be following new CDC recommendations, and will be putting preference on the Moderna and Pfizer mRNA vaccines. The CDC acted after date showed higher rates than expected of a rare blood clotting issue.
Virginia Vaccine Coordinator Dr. Danny Avula says "bottom line, this is simply about following the science." Avula says the condition warrants limiting use of the vaccine. The issue is rare and infrequent, but again, is occurring more often than had been expected.
Nine people nationally have died of the condition.
