Hampton, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Vice-President Kamala Harris (D) kicked off a tour of college campuses this fall with a visit to Hampton University. Harris is visiting a number of colleges, many of which are HBCU's, as the 2024 Presidential campaign approaches.
Harris spoke to a friendly audience, who only boo'd Harris when it was mentioned that she graduated from Howard University. The two schools are HBCU rivals and play each other in football this weekend. The Vice-President told students to fight for what they believe in, and praised the Biden Administration's efforts on climate change. She also addressed gun issues.
Republicans used the event to point out Harris' low approval ratings.
