Richmond, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - Virginia's Vaccine Coordinator says they have begun to pre-position kid vaccines around the Commonwealth, ahead of a likely approval by the FDA and the CDC in the near future. Dr. Danny Avula says they have put a particular focus on pediatrician and family doctors' offices.
The vaccine for 5 to 11 year olds is one-third the dose of the full vaccine. Avula says he would recommend 11 year olds not wait a year to get the full vaccine, as the smaller dose is still showing to work well.
Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney also offered kids and parents tips for Halloween, saying trick or treating is fine, but he recommends staying outside, and sanitizing in between each house.
